This was fairly predicatable, as the router faceplate does not illuminate the 2 port that it's plugged into. Or, does the router only display a live ethernet connection with a device that is actually running a working OS and is sending network traffic? What do you mean by "If I use any of the connecting software I can find it never finds the server. I cannot remember if I chose the IP manually or not. I was hoping to find someone who has been in my position before and successfully installed the OS.

Which i have never seen in my life. I found out online that I had to put a jumper on the board to unlock the bios to allow it to boot from usb. Many of the all-in-one solutions that are currently available come with a single SATA hard drive installed, with 3 empty drive bays for storage expansion.
